Sourcers are the magical humanoids and creatures of Ellosia. Their name means “from the Source of magic” or “created from the Source Dragons.” Most sourcers come from one of the four elemental Source Dragon – Gale, Tide, Quake, or Blaze. Although there are two other Source Dragons – Life and Death – only two types of sourcers are created from them – Dawn Chargers and Dusk Relievers.

Most sourcers are wedged between the Kingdom of Athren to the north and the Drezaarian Empire to the south in a space dubbed The Wilds by humans. Within The Wilds, each elemental Clan has staked its own territory – the Gale Clan in the Floating Fields, the Tide Clan in the Mirror Lake to the Silent Sea, the Quake Clan in the deep chasm of The Mesmerizing Abyss, and the Blaze Clan in volcanoes of The Bellowing Peaks. Only a small area where the four territories meet in the middle of The Wilds is considered a place of sanctuary. It’s also where the Temple of the Source Dragons hovers above a curved lake embraced by lava-leaking mountains, wind-swept fields, and dark caves.

Pure-blood sourcers are equipped with the strong magic to manipulate their respective element. Half-bloods, those born of a pure-blooded sourcer and a human, have limited magic, dampened by their human blood. Harpies can lighten themselves and others, seafolk can heal, dryads can grow vegetation, and fireborn can melt any material.

Rarely, a half-blood gains an extra ability to briefly control the minds of humans. Although not as powerful as a Breaker‘s magic against a sourcer and definitely not as devastating, these select few sourcers can utter a command and receive complete obedience for a few moments from their human target.

In addition to the humanoid sourcers, creature sourcers roam Ellosia too. Instead of having magic at their fingertips, the magic in their blood fuels their very existence. Beasts like gryphons, kraken, treants, and wyverns wouldn’t survive without their magic keeping them alive. With varying degrees of intellect, humans and sourcers alike give these powerful creatures a wide berth.

Although from the same origin, the Source Dragons, the sourcers are not united. Fighting between the Gale and Quake Clans are common, and the Tide and Blaze Clans stay far away from one another. Pure-blooded sourcers look down their noses at the inferior half-bloods, while the creature sourcers are slaughtered without mercy if they come too close to a sourcer settlement.

As a unified force, sourcers could likely overpower the humans who encroach on their land. Divided as they are, they stand no chance against the abuse, enslavement, and death the humans bring to their borders.
